The Exmouth trawler Sarah Jayne, which sank off Berry Head on 11 September
The vessel sank on 11 September while fishing off Berry Head. The skipper of the trawler, Exmouth's Geoff Ingram, has been missing since the incident, while two crew members were rescued at the scene.
A police spokesperson says that "the Coroner has been made aware and will open an inquest into the circumstances". The family of the missing man have been informed.
The incident is still being investigated by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch. The vessel is currently lying six miles off the coast of Brixham.
