Silver award winners: staff and volunteers of Exmouth Children’s Centre with Damian Allen, Director for Children and Young People, The Children’s Society
The awards were in recognition of the Centre's success in listening to children and promoting children's participation in its centres and groups.
Jemma Hickman, Early Years Professional at Exmouth Children's Centre, said: "This award celebrates the work we do at the Exmouth Children's Centres to ensure that children's voices are heard within all of our groups.
"The Centres are laid out in a way that enables babies and children to make choices about activities and resources. Planning comes from children's choices and voices and they are always at the centre of everything we do.
"Babies and children are competent communicators, even when non-verbal. Here at Exmouth Children's Centres we ensure that we are always listening and responding to them."
Damian Allen, Children and Young People's Director at The Children's Society, presented the awards.
Attending the event were staff, children, parents and volunteers from the Children's Centre as well as representatives from the Public Health Team, Devon County Council and Exmouth Town Council.

A heartening antidote to all the bad news! Congratulations to everyone at the Children's Centre on this well-deserved award. Early Years education is the foundation for raising well-adjusted children who, it is hoped, will develop into responsible and productive members of society. We're extremely lucky to have such a great team helping Exmouth's children get the very best start in life – well done!
