EASTER IN Exmouth! What could be nicer? Summer always comes early here, as the floral displays burst into bloom and visitor attractions reopen for the season. So what better time to get out and about with the family?

This Easter, Exmouth's kids are spoilt for choice with a whole host of holiday activities to burn off that excess energy. Exmouth Leisure Centre has a full programme, including Junior Street Dance and Kids Karate and Kickboxing on Tuesday mornings. In the pool, the over-eights can enjoy playing with inflatables at Fun Splash every weekday afternoon, and at Waterwalkerz on Tuesday and Thursday mornings they can have a go at walking on water in giant 'hamster balls'!

And if your kids haven't learned to swim yet, why not take advantage of the swimming lessons available throughout the holidays? The Leisure Centre is also offering some fantastic opportunities for young sportspeople to hone their skills with two intensive courses: Starts & Turns on Monday 2 and Thursday 4 April aims to give swimmers over seven a competitive edge when competing in races and galas, while Chris Webster Football  offers top football coaching for the over-sixes on Thursdays 5 and 12 and Friday 13 April. chloe_246 says she was pleased with the Centre and adds: 'Overall I thought it was good and I would use it again'.

"Whatever the Weather" is a series of free outdoor play events being held by Exmouth Children's Centre around the town throughout the holidays. All families with at least one child aged five or under are invited to enjoy a range of play activities including crafts, games and sensory play. The Centre says: 'These sessions really do run whatever the weather, and activities are tailored to take advantage of weather conditions on the day.'  On Monday 2 April you can join in at Candy's Field, Lympstone, between 10.30 am-12.00 noon and at The Crescent Playground, Littleham, from 2.00-3.30 pm. On Tuesday 10 April, you can take part in the Manor Gardens, Exmouth from 10.30 am - 12.00 noon or at The Green, Budleigh Salterton, from 2.00-3.30 pm.

More free activities are available at Exmouth Library, where children aged from six to eleven can take the 'Name that Character' challenge with a chance to win a prize! Just pick up an entry form and solve the clues! And for younger children – especially those who love stories and pretending – there are free Easter storytelling events on Tuesdays 3 and 10 April, with separate sessions for babies, toddlers and older children. Plus, on Tuesday 10, you'll be able to join Alice from Alice in Wonderland at her very own tea party!

Crafty types will enjoy the activities on Easter Saturday and Sunday at the National Trust's  A la Ronde property on Exmouth's outskirts. Pedigree_chum says it's a 'fabulous place to take the kids for a quick visit'. Easter craft activities are on offer, along with face painting and an Easter garden quiz trail with a free chocolate egg!

Easter Weekend – Friday 6 - Monday 9 April – at Exmouth's World of Country Life is a must for families. In addition to all the usual attractions (goat walking, safari train,  deer and llama feeding, play area, etc.) there's free face painting for everyone, and if you can 'crack' the Easter Egg Trail you'll get a free chocolate egg! Other Easter specials include arts and crafts, storytelling, photo sessions with the Easter Bunny and International Ferret Racing! BenPeter says: 'A good day out, can easily spend the day there, my kids are both under 5 and they love it'.

Further afield

Just a little further afield, Crealy Adventure Park near Exeter is another family favourite, and this Easter they have an unbeatable offer – pay for one day's admission and enjoy unlimited visits for a  whole week! Over the Easter weekend, there'll be free chocolate for every child, plus the opportunity to win  'M-egg-a' prizes in the South West's biggest Easter egg hunt! Characters Buddy and Blossom will be around to give out even more chocolate to those wearing Easter Bonnets or Easter fancy dress, and you'll be able to meet some baby 'Easter' bunnies in the animal barn.

Happy Easter everyone!
