FIRE crews took 40 minutes to cut a man free after he became stuck in a home-made cat flap.

Police and ambulance also attended the incident which occurred at around 11pm on Saturday, July 28, at a residential home on The Marles in Exmouth.

A police officer from Exmouth Neighbourhood Beat Team described the event as a "prank gone wrong".

He said with help from his friends, the middle-aged man had tried to squeeze into a friend's house through a large cat flap when his shoulders became wedged and he was unable to move in or out.

One crew from Exmouth Fire Station and members of the neighbourhood policing team attended the incident.

The man was freed unhurt after fire fighters cut through the door to release him.

Re: Man gets stuck in door cat flap. Yes, Freeloader47, that's the kind of thing that happens in Exmouth. Glad you had a good laugh. It gave many of us a brief chortle too until we realised that the Chap in the Flap wasted a lot of valuable resources, such as the neighbourhood police team and firefighters. But that's OK. Next year we'll all chip in with increased Council Taxes to pay for his foolish malarkey...

    Laugh, I nearly wet myself.
I was merely googling the Marles as I was planning to visit a friend who lives there. I promptly booked myself and family a room and drove 175 miles from boring old Slough. Shortly after arrival we discussed how ridiculous the catperson had been.
We laughed heartlily, who would have thought a real human would get stuck in a cat flap?
My friend mentioned how this Catman fools around and wastes valuable resources. I have dubbed him the Chap in the Flap (ha). I haven't laught this much in ages. During my two days in Exmouth I thoroughly enjoyed the beach and also the lovely views from my friends gorgeous flat. Luckily and also perhaps disappointedly, Catman kept a low profile that day.
