Marpool primary school raise money for Exmouth RNLI.

Year 3 and 4 pupils at Marpool Primary School in Exmouth raised £100 for Exmouth RNLI after a recent art sale. This money paid for two new pairs of wellington boots for the volunteer crew and lifeboat crew member Andrew Stott went to the school to receive them on Monday, July 18th.

Teacher Jennie Dunn said; "The children were so inspired by the work of the Exmouth RNLI after they visited the lifeboat station that they offered to sell their project artwork at a special sale at the school. We were delighted when the sale raised £100."
Andrew Stott, a volunteer Exmouth RNLI crew member for the past fifteen years said; "I have been through a fair few pairs of wellies over the years and it's an essential part of our kit, so it was lovely to receive these for us to use and we're very thankful to the children and teachers for their hard work in bring this about."
Jo Damsell, Exmouth RNLI lifeboat press officer said: "Each volunteer member of the lifeboat crew have their own outfits. The full kit for the all weather lifeboat costs £896 per crew member with the wellies costing £42 a pair. The boots are steel toe capped and have metal running through the base of the footwear. Each crew member will have their kit marked with a number and name ensuring they wear the correctly fitted gear at all times. Next time the pupils see the boat go out, one of the crew may well be wearing a pair of the new boots."
