Instead of buying individual Christmas cards for each other, residents from the Exmouth retirement apartments decided to donate money to a local charity. Choosing a photo of a snowman as a design for the large scale card, residents were invited to sign and leave a donation. The choice of a local charity in December was for the launch and recovery vehicle appeal for the Shannon-class lifeboat, due at Exmouth RNLI by early 2014.
Margaret was invited to accept the cheque from Patricia Johnson on 14 January, after which she thanked the residents and gave a brief, informative talk on how their money would contribute towards saving lives at sea.
