Romantic Dining in Exmouth for Valentine's Day 2013

WITH VALENTINE'S Day fast approaching, a question is being asked all over Exmouth – where to dine with your sweetheart?

For a truly romantic evening, you'll want to make the most of Exmouth's lovely setting, so why not start with a clifftop stroll or a wander along the seafront? Why not stop for a romantic drink at the Royal Beacon Hotel, with its spectacular sea views? And if you can't bear to tear yourself away, their 1810 restaurant is offering  a mouthwatering 4-course Valentines menu for £30 per person, including a complimentary glass of champagne.

Just down the hill in Chapel Street, The Chronicle is offering a three-course menu for £29.00, including a complimentary glass of bubbly and tea or coffee at the end of the meal. Book a window table and you can enjoy views over the Manor Gardens. soulman1 says: 'A warm and friendly atmosphere awaits you at this high quality restaurant in the centre of town. The Chronicle is a fabulous place to spend time enjoying locally sourced food and wines... Top marks from my partner and I all round.' FutureExmouth adds: 'The Chronicle is already being described as "Exmouth's hidden jewel"... The setting, opposite the Manor Gardens entrance, is great, and the interior – with light blue and cream tables and recycled/reclaimed furniture – is cool and chic. The staff are welcoming and very helpful when choosing your dishes. Hard to fault, The Chronicle shows that Exmouth really can do fine-dining in style. Highly recommended.'

Take it easy...

It's not just Exmouth's top restaurants that have gone all romantic, with Valentine specials on offer all around the town.If you prefer something less formal, the Grapevine's Valentine's Day menu includes local favourites such as Exe mussels with homemade beer bread, at  £19.50 for two courses and £23.30 for three. jensen67 is a fan of the Victoria Road gastropub: 'Have just had a wonderful evening with fantastic food at the Grapevine the staff were friendly and helpful, the beer was perfectly kept and it was excellent value for money, yes there are cheaper places in Exmouth but the food I had at the Grapevine was easily the best I have had in town, the atmosphere was perfect'.

If Italian is what gets your heart beating faster, Prezzo has a three-course Valentine's menu for just £19.95 – book online by 13 February to receive a free glass of bubbly! pedigree_chum says: 'We will certainly be visiting Prezzo again and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Italian food'. Or, if a cosy country pub is more your style, why not make the most of the new cycle path and take a romantic sunset stroll or bike ride along the Exe Estuary? The Puffing Billy at Exton is a well-known gastropub with an excellent wine list. Its Valentine's menu is available from 14-16 February and includes two courses for £29.00 or three courses for £35.00.  And if you don't feel energetic, it's just yards from the railway station, so you can enjoy the majestic estuary views from the comfort of the train!

And now for something completely different...

If you like to put on your dancing shoes, head to the Pavilion on the seafront, where East Devon-based band Souled will be sharing their always passionate interpretations of classic Motown, Atlantic and Stax soul music in a special St. Valentine's Night performance. The ticket  price of £35.50 includes a Valentines meal in the Posh Nosh restaurant. Sounds like an evening to remember!
