The Railway Carriage Cafe has become a bit of a seafront landmark since it arrived, and it's a lovely spot for a morning coffee or afternoon tea, especially when entertaining visitors to Exmouth. Train buffs can visit the model railway next door or simply wallow in the nostalgia. The homemade cakes are good, but the lunches are unremarkable and you can get better value elsewhere. Still, as ExeCellent says, the setting is unique and one of Exmouth's treasures!

Set inside a restored 1956 railway carriage, this has become one of our favourite stops in Exmouth for a cup of tea and a light snack. The carriage – part of the Exmouth Model Railway – arrived on the seafront in June 2007 and quickly acquired a good reputation for offering quality refreshments in a unique setting at a reasonable price. Open during the season (April–September), it can get quite busy and a little warm in the carriage on a hot day. If that's the case, there's also an adjacent patio area that's equally pleasant. The Railway Carriage Café makes a perfect stop before or after a visit to the model railway, or just when you're passing. All aboard!
