Dozens of people, including children from The Beacon School helped to create The Big Exmouth Smile that greeted visitors to the Cycle Tour of Britain stage finish on The Esplanade. The Smile was composed of 90-odd deckchairs spelling out the word EXMOUTH surrounded by lips built up from sand. The project was designed and managed by non-profit creative group Createxe. Visitors seemed to enjoy the spectacle.

Well done! This was a great effort from Createxe and all the people that helped them. And it worked! I've just seen the ITV4 coverage, and there it was on TV – 'Exmouth' spelt out in deckchairs with a big smile surrounding it in the sand. FANTASTIC! If you didn't see the coverage, it's being repeated on Friday morning on ITV4 at 11.20am. Again, many thanks to Createxe for pulling something really special together. Excellent stuff.

I loved the smile! Too many people just complain about Exmouth when we should all be happy to live in such a lovely place :) Were really lucky so SMILE!!!
