ECC is now an academy school and the governors are to be congratulated on bringing the old dinosaur into the 21st century. I believe several teachers have been stupid enough to protest against the move. Well, in the spirit of their fantastic head teacher, all I would say to them is "On your bike!".
The management at ECC is superb - they deserve a considerable pay rise in the new dispensation. However, if the legendary AKA has still got what it takes he should sack the whiners and whingers, the suburban socialists among his staff and get on with the job of transforming the school into a proper business. Good luck to him.

I have read in the local press about ECC's status change, but am unclear about the full implications of this. However, the suggestion that a school should be run as a business is indeed alarming, and if this is what academy status means I am not surprised that the staff are up in arms. The 'proper business' of a school is, and always will be, education.
