I was amused to hear the report about Exmouth being 14th to bottom of the Clone Towns in the UK - beating Exeter, the worst Clone Town! What does it mean? Towns that just have the same shops as other towns, making them indistinguisable. A Home Town, on the other hand, is one that 'retains its individual character and is instantly recognisable and distinctive.' I have to say, I don't really understand how Crediton has managed to come 11th from top though! I think it's dull as dishwater. At least Exmouth is trying to be different. Town Centre Tony Collins is doing a fantastic job and there are new and independent shops opening on Albion Street etc. If we could just do something to improve the Magnolia Centre though - it's no good just improving the roads around the town centre. The Magnolia Centre is the heart of the town and it's just Somerfield - Boots - WH Smith - Dorothy Perkins - Blockbuster etc. It would be nice to have some independent, character shops in the heart of town. We should enter the clone war!
