I seem to recall some years ago that a horse drawn carriage service was going to be run along the seafront which also seemed like a good idea at the time ....
However, didn't the council either refuse permission or make it so difficult that the entrepreneur went elsewhere after all?

Your right Mustavafag about the council, I have permission from 'Devon County Council' because they own the roads and want greener public transport, but was given the run around by 'East devon', all down to them not listening to the what kind of service I would offer. They pretty much told me to go to Exeter or somewhere else.
But it now turns out that as long as I dont charge a Fare, I can operate in specific areas, Offering a Tip based service. The rickshaws will have advertising space on the sides and rear and I can H
There's no doubt in my mind that Exmouth would benefit from a novel and fun way to get around the locality.... seaton has it's tramway to axminster, babbacome has it's vernicular railway, but what do we have to offer?
We have a beautiful long seafront, surely ideal for such a venture.
In fact does anybody know what happened to the little 'road-train' we used to see a few summers back?

Marvellous idea! His Lordship and I would take a very favourable view of such a service. I'm shocked (though not surprised) at EDDC's lack of support. It sounds like you need a local campaign, dear chap!

This is a blooming good idea, which I'm sure will appeal to a lot of people. It also has a certain quaintness about it, making the trip a memorable event to those using it.

Phew! I thought people had lost interest! Im now looking to start a trial service, that will run weekends during the exmouth festival.
A few little hurdles such as insurance and storage, left to sort!
If any businesses would like to help fund the first trial by advertising or If anybody is interested in helping please contact me on : 07766720421
Wishing you every success!
Too many people give up before time. There is a lot of truth in the words of Mahatma Gandhi....
Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.
If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do certain things, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it.
On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it in the beginning.

Best of luck to you. Any sustainable business that brings some character to Exmouth should be encouraged! Hopefully see you around.

That's a huge shame Todd. The rickshaw service sounded such an inspired idea, and just the sort of thing that is needed in Exmouth during the season. I think it would have been a huge hit with tourists and locals. Hopefully you may be able to reconsider the idea at a later date.

Pity. It's frustrating that EDDC and local businesses are not willing to support initiatives like this. I wonder how many other good ideas are stopped due to their inability to see the 'bigger picture'? I could rant on, but I know I would be wasting my breath.
