Exmouth marketing firm Chartered Developments is taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning and is urging local people in Exmouth to follow suit and help raise £8.3 million for Macmillan Cancer Support.

This year the event takes place on (or around) Friday 24th September, to raise cash to fund its vital cancer services.

Anita Turner, Chartered Development's Managing Director, wants everyone to pledge to either host their own coffee morning or gto go along to a public coffee morning in their area.

Anita said: "We are proud to support Macmillan; most people have been touched by cancer, including members of our own staff, and have experienced the fantastic support offered by this charity."

Marie Doran is the firm's charity organiser. Marie said: "For a number of years we have taken part in Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning and, with the emphasis on cake, we have been able to raise more than £500 for each of the past two years. It's a great fun morning, the highlight of whcih is the cake auction - the ensuing bidding war can raise up to £50 per cake! Macmillan is a fantastic charity and I hope lots of local individuals and businesses get behind this year's Coffee Morning."

Macmillan's fundraising manager, Calvin Lovelock added: "We are very grateful to everyone who takes part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning. Every penny raised from coffee events, large and small, will help fund the practical, medical, financial and emotional support Macmillan offer to help change the lives of everyone affected by cancer for the better."

"If you can't do it on September 24th, just pick another day. If you're not keen on coffee and would rather have cocktails or even herbal tea, that's fine as well. All that matters is that you take part. So put a smile on your mug and help Macmillan reach more local people affected by cancer."

To register or host a coffee morning visit the Macmillan event website or call 0845 070 1315.
