    DOZENS of youngsters took part in the latest Exeter City Soccer Roadshow in Exmouth. The event, organised by Exeter City’s community team, involved children aged from five to 13. They took part in football training, learning new skills and drills, entered competitions and played matches.     FIRE crews were called to a fire at a property in East Devon yesterday. The incident happened around 2.40am in Victoria Road, Exmouth. Two fire crews from the town attended and found a burning wooden staircase at the rear of the property. No one is believed to have been hurt and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

    THE Wurzels are performing a one-off concert in Devon on September 1. The concert takes place Exmouth Pavilion and there will also be a raffle in aid of Devon Air Ambulance. Doors open at 7.30pm and the gig starts at 8pm. It will be a cabaret-style show. Tickets cost £13. For more details telephone 01395 222477.

    Tributes have been paid to a serviceman killed in Afghanistan. Devastated relatives and colleagues of RAF Senior Aircraftman Kinikki Griffiths have paid their respects to the 20-year-old man from Exmouth, saying he “could light up a room with his intoxicating smile” and who was known to his friends as Griff.
