CALLING ALL LEADERS AND MANAGERS

I am a Principal Lecturer in Education at a UK University, with a special interest in Leadership and Management. Prior to this I was a Secondary Headteacher and an Ofsted Inspector. I will regularly post items across the school age range which I hope will be of interest in helping parents to help their children and to keep up to date. Some items may be of interest for people in the wider workplace.
Last week I finished reading KEN ROBINSON'S brilliant, powerful, humorous book – 'THE ELEMENT. How finding your passion changes everything'
(Allen Layne. 2009).
Robinson maintains that Education, business and society as a whole are losing out because too many people don't know what they are really capable of achieving. The key message in his book is that we need to understand how talent expresses itself differently in every individual. We need to create an environment in our schools – in our workplaces, and in our public offices – where every person is inspired to grow creatively.
So, if you are in any leadership/management role, or simply enjoy a great informative read, this is a vital one for you.

I couldn't agree more. Haven't read this book or heard of it but having worked with children and teenagers, and more recently young adults, I agree that talent is sometimes well disguised and has to be prized out. I'm not in a leadership role but am intrigued by your recommendation. Thank you.
