Lotta bottle: 16-month-old Ralph Lawrence Needham of Exmouth at the Endless Bottles installation in Manor Gardens
And for one young man – 16-month-old Ralph Lawrence Needham of Exmouth – the installation did exactly what its creators intended. Ralph is pictured in the midst of the installation, clearly contemplating how the problems of plastic bottle disposal will affect us all in the future.
The sheer size of the Endless Bottles installation and its prime position near the Imperial Road entrance to the Manor Gardens has definitely helped raise awareness of the problems of recycling. It's also been a huge hit with childen, who have been delighted to run around the installation, jumping up and down on the bottles and squashing them flat.

I saw the plastic bottles when I walked through the park - and though I thought they actually looked a mess, it did make me think about their disposal. I was really taken though with the fantastic 'fishes' that someone had made from plastic bottles - they were hanging from the trees and looked really impressive. The park was really buzzing that day with lots of activities going on, so let's hope the people noticed the bottles and that it made an impression on them.
