Exmouth to Keep Threshers

One of two local Threshers stores in Exmouth will be kept open by franchise owner despite the recent swathe of store closures.

First Quench Retailing, that owns the off-licence chain, announced they were going into administration in late October.

The owner of the franchise, Mike Reid, who owns the Exmouth High Street and Budleigh stores, seems determined to keep open.

Threshers have left these two and many other franchised stores around the country without a supplier after it filed for bankruptcy at the end of October. Mr Reid said that the shelves were running empty, and he had not received a delivery from Threshers for weeks.

James Findlay, staff at Threshers, High Street in Exmouth said: “They had loads of really good sales on that they were meant to pay us back for and they kept on delaying the end of sale and then told us without warning that they were going into administration so we couldn’t claim any of our money back."

"We actually found out they went into administration on the news before they told anyone.” Mr Findlay also said: “We get our stock from about four different suppliers at the moment. We aren’t tied to any; we just get stuff from where the best price is”.

The franchised Threshers stores are expected to undergo a name change in the New Year, due to the new start they will have to make.
