PSQ to play fundraiser for Transition Town Exmouth

Looking for a fun and groovy night out?
Concerned about climate change? Want to do your bit towards reducing our
dependence on fossil fuels and helping Exmouth to become self-sufficient?
Hammond-led groove, blues and jazz group the Paul Strange Quartet has the
answer.
Locally based PSQ (pictured) is playing a fundraiser for environmental
group Transition Town Exmouth at the Bicton Inn, Bicton Street on Saturday 5
September from 8.30pm. You can expect to hear terrific toe-tapping numbers,
such as Green Onions, Time Is Tight, Gimme Some Lovin’, Moondance, Tequila and
Wade In The Water, delivered with great verve.
PSQ, a big hit at the Exmouth
Festival in May and more recently the Exe Estuary Festival on the Maer, has a
growing reputation for strong live shows. “There aren’t too many local bands
with a kicking, growling Hammond,” explains keyboardist Paul Strange. “People
seem to like what we’re doing, and love our passion for 60s funky grooves.”
And
there’s a powerful message behind the Bicton gig. “Here in Exmouth we have the
perfect opportunity to show the rest of the country how green a coastal town
can be,” says Strange. “Transition Town Exmouth is a blossoming community
group, dedicated to raising awareness of two of the greatest global challenges
– peak oil and climate change. TTE is working towards self-reliance in areas
such as food, energy, healthcare, jobs and economics, trying to make Exmouth
use less energy and resources than are currently consumed.
“TTE also acts as an
umbrella organisation for a number of worthwhile groups, such as the Farmers’
Market, Xcycle, plastic bag free Exmouth and the soon to be relaunched Local
Exchange Trading System (LETS). That’s why we’ve decided to do a fundraiser for
TTE, so that it has a better chance to make Exmouth sustainable and more
prosperous in the future.”
Admission to the Bicton gig is free. A collection
will be made for TTE during the show. More information about TTE at

PSQ are simply awesome live and are able to get the crowd tapping and moving as soon as they arrive on stage. Paul Strange on Keyboard was also featured as a presenter on the Jazz show on Bay FM 107.9 during the trial two week broadcasts in May 2008/9. I was lucky enough to see the James Taylor Quartet a number of years ago and PSQ are very much influenced by the JTQ. The Jazz Funk and Soulful grooves will set any night on fire and I am very pleased that the group are associated with environmental issues too.
PSQ appeared live at the recent Spirit of the Exe Festival and were certainly a big hit with the crowds. This is an excellent oportunity to see PSQ live at the Bicton Inn on Satuday 5 September and for a good cause too.

Reportit's converted what I wrote into a different address again. Presumably it's a version of the transition town exmouth web address.
