If you're a photographer or just have an interest in taking snapshots, here's your chance to put yourself and Exmouth in the spotlight and maybe even get your images on show in the House of Commons this summer.

If you want to play a part in this General Election that goes beyond the poll booth, get involved with The Election Project and have your photographs of local political activity online and possibly exhibited at the House of Commons later this year.

Photographer and official Election Artist for the House of Commons, Simon Roberts, is heading this project. He says: "The 2010 General Election is likely to be one of the most exciting and historically significant elections since 1997.

"During the 17 days of official campaigning, I am traversing the country in a motorhome photographing local landscapes and scenes that are connected to this year's General Election. My main focus will be the relationship between politicians and the voting public: you and me.

"That is why I want the public to get involved in this commission. I want you to be part of the project alongside my own photographs as part of the final artwork exhibited in the House of Commons this summer. The results will be a multi-layered, contemporary view of the state of the nation in 2010."

"The General Election is, by definition, a democratic process. Your contributions will add vital collaborative and democratic dimension to the project."

For more information about what sort of photos to submit, how to go about uploading them and where you'll be able to see your photographs, visit The Election Project website. You can also text photos taken on your mobile phone to 07541 380 888 or email them to pics@theelectionproject.co.uk
