Well, I'm just lovin' the new strand lights! Missed the old ones so these were a nice surprise. So pretty and they cheer us all up on a rainy night!

My opinion counts as well therefore why should someone say I am misguided?

No one doubted that some sprucing up of the Strand was needed but to spend millions and come up with an area as featureless as the Strand was a dissapointment to the vast majority of Exmouth people.

Ask any builder in Exmouth how they managed to spend that sort of money creating this area?

Ask any Exmouth Taxi driver in the Strand what they think of the new area?

What is there to rave about? It is just an open space. It should have cost far less and it should have been very special. But it isn't. It does a job but it could have been so much more!

Bortez - For what it's worth there's not one square yard of concrete in the Strand; all the paving slabs are natural stone as are the seat plinths.
So far the expenditure has only been £2M.
I appreciate that the facts get in the way of a good rant but they're worth pointing out.

My interest in this post is mentioning that i like the strand area. I presume the purpose of the pictures that were posted were to show what a lovely place it is. I agree it looks lovely.I am not sure really that you should be insinuating things against people - just because they think the new square looks very nice.

I just happen to believe it is a good thing in Exmouth- in ten years time the kids of today will no doubt love it in the way you loved what you thought was a lovely area.

As for rushing from the seafront to the strand or vice versa- why would you? On a nice day just relax wherever you happen to find yourself and enjoy it! lifes too short to rush about .

I imagine somewhere along the line you have a vested interest so we will have to agree to differ. People always congregated at the Strand .nothing has changed except the three million price tag, empty space and the lack of imagination. No one is going to come rushing from the seafront to see the Strand.
