I think sometimes you have to accept that you get what you pay for. The Farmhouse Inn provides reasonable food at a reasonable price. I must say that all pensioners do not 'tut' all the time and all children do not run around all the time - and both pensioners and children enjoy a meal out sometimes! Remember we were all children once, and we might all be pensioners if we are lucky! it is good to find somewhere like the Farmhouse Inn where all age groups are welcome.

ReportThe food at the Farmhouse actually isn't that bad - it can even be quite nice - but the overall experience of eating there is so utterly joyless that my heart sinks at the very thought. Unfortunately I do have to eat at the Farmhouse, because my elderly father loves it there. His reasons are: a) comfy chairs b) predictable food c) reasonable prices. I imagine these factors explain why the clientele (at least at lunchtime) consists almost exclusively of senior citizens and families with small children. This, of course, is not the best recipe for a relaxing or cordial atmosphere, as the pensioners spend all their time glaring and tutting at the children, who are busy arguing and/or running around. And there's something suffocating about the decor - lots of wood, thick carpets, upholstery, not much natural light. Everything's just so remorselessly corporate, from the predictable menu to the staff's feigned concern as to your dining pleasure. So 3 stars for OK, Met Expectations. That's if your expectations aren't very high.

Serves a need for cheapish food locally when I can't be troubled to cook or drive. Cordon Blue it ain't, but to fend off starvation it works a treat. Could do with making sure the staff are laid off when ill though - last winter I saw a waitress sneeze over some poor sap's supper, which would almost have been funny if I hadn't later gone down with (probably) the same cold myself. So maybe best in the summer....

ReportI have eaten here several times with a group of friends and never have we been disappointed. The food is excellent and the service is with a smile. A lovely atmosphere and very reasonable prices on the extensive menu make The Farmhouse a really inviting venue for family or friends to enjoy. And if you just can't manage a dessert, what could be better than their smallest dessert.......a tiny little pot of absolutely scrumptious chocolate mousse!
