A tremendous new addition to the town's blossoming restaurant quarter, The Chronicle is already being described as "Exmouth's hidden jewel". Offering a reasonable range of dishes – including locally sourced meat, fish and vegetables – the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity. I had seared scallops, served in a creamy leek sauce with black pudding mash. It was a superb dish. My partner had a steak, with a simple salad, which was also extremely good, while our friends seemed equally impressed with their dishes. The setting, opposite the Manor Gardens entrance, is great, and the interior – with light blue and cream tables and recycled/reclaimed furniture – is cool and chic. The staff are welcoming and very helpful when choosing your dishes. Hard to fault, The Chronicle shows that Exmouth really can do fine-dining in style. Highly recommended.

Welcome to The Chronicle Restaurant
Situated in the heart of Exmouth, we bring you a new and exciting restaurant and dining experience. Our restaurant has the pleasure of cherishing history, as our name 'The Chronicle' is inspired by our premises once being the newspaper office for the Exmouth Chronicle. You can still see the remnants when observing the art-deco premises we occupy, offering you contemporary cuisine in a local historical venue.
We are an independent, family run business that provides a friendly, personal touch to our service. Owners Kathy and Ricardo bring their enthusiasm and passion to the plate and this is reflected in the interesting and diverse menu that is on offer.
Our Food
The Chronicle restaurant brings you an enticing and exciting cosmopolitan menu that draws influence from English, Irish & Mediterranean cuisine. We take pride in using fresh, local produce to give you high quality food from the surrounding area. All of our food is cooked on the premises and we always use free range meat. However, if you're a vegetarian, do not fear, we have a range of vegetarian options available that can be adapted to suit your requirements.
We bake our own bread, prepare all fish and meat on premises and use the freshest vegetables available to give you a meal that's bursting with flavour.
Our Services
The Chronicle restaurant strives to give you a pleasurable dining experience that can be enjoyed by all ages. We have a children's menu that is loosely adapted from the adult menu and we have high chairs available for the little ones. We also understand that everybody has different preferences, which is why we offer a flexible menu. You can mix and match starters and main courses and we can always adapt our menu to suit your individual needs.
If you're looking for a venue to host a private function then we are fully licensed and more than happy to accommodate your group where possible. We can host up to 50 people and can even create a set menu for your guests to give you a truly personalised experience. We also don't mind if you're just looking to pop in for a quick coffee or glass of wine.
So if you are looking for somewhere exciting to eat out in Exmouth, look no further. For enquires and more info either visit our website or get in touch, we'll always be happy to help…
A warm and friendly atmosphere awaits you at this high quality restaurant in the centre of town. The Chronicle is a fabulous place to spend time enjoying locally sourced food and wines. We experienced this during the Exmouth Festival and watched people coming and going from the Manor Gardens entrance just opposite. It's all reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The Chronicle is yet more proof that this developing seaside town is the place to spend quality time in fabulous surroundings. Top marks from my partner and I all round.
