Four of us recently tried Prezzo's February sharing special, which runs until Monday 4 March. It's a slightly odd combination of green pea and basil oil soup as a starter (£4.95), followed by an option of two pastas (£21.95) or VI Pizza - with half and half toppings - to share (£17.95 or £16.95), with a choice of two sides. We found out you can mix and match any of the two half and half pizza toppings. We felt this should have been made clearer on the menu. Two of us liked the soup, although we didn't think it tasted much of pea, while the other two felt that it had an astringent lemony aftertaste that wasn't quite right. We all agreed that there should have been more choice of starter. For our mains we chose a Seafood and Meat pizza and a Not and Not from the Hot and Not vegetarian option. The seafood half - king prawns, grilled artichokes, spinach, olives, fennel, tomato and mozzarella, drizzled with a tomato chilli dressing - was good, but light on prawns. The base - nice and crispy - was terrific. Sadly the meat half - spicy Italian sausage, roasted peppers, red onions, Roquito chilli, fresh rocket, tomato and mozzarella - didn't work at all. The meat appeared to be spicy ground beef rather than sausage. Overall it was too hot and aggressive, lacking finesse. The big hit of the evening was the Not pizza - white béchamel sauce, button, field and oyster mushrooms, spinach and mozzarella, drizzled with truffle infused oil. This, we all agreed, was delicious, and worked well. Our sides - gratinated potatoes, tomato and red onion salad, rocket and Grana Padano cheese salad and house fries - were fine, if a little small. To complement our mains we chose an enjoyable bottle of Merlot, IGT. For dessert we tried Strawberry Eton Mess cheesecake, Tiramisu and a selection of ice cream. All were good, especially the cheesecake. Our service was a little over-fussy, there were long delays and some confusion. Overall not bad, and an intriguing twist on Prezzo's regular menu.

I've eaten here around 10 times since the chain opened just off The Strand in 2009. It's incredibly variable, especially the quality and quantities, depending on which dish you choose. The current score is 3 good meals, 2 average, 3 below par and 2 complete duffers. Prezzo in Exmouth needs to smarten up its act and achieve more reliable and consistently good meals, right across its menu. Our last visit is a case in point. We were impressed with the Pane Con Cipolla starter (garlic pizza bread with caramelised balsamic onions and melted mozzarella cheese) which was excellent and very more-ish. My Di Mare Calzone (folded pizza with oak roasted salmon, king prawns and broccoli, with pomodoro sauce) was tasty but not as warm as I would have liked it, while my partner had a Quattro Stagioni pizza, which was OK-ish but rather meagre on the topping. The staff and service were friendly. Will we return? Most likely, especially as the voucher offers are so useful. Fingers crossed that it can lift itself above the average, because that's where it is at the moment. Other Prezzos are far better than the Exmouth branch, so what's the problem?

ReportWell, it only took us a month to try Prezzo again and we were better served. It seems only fair to cancel out my last negative review with a positive! This time we went on a Friday night (previously it was a Saturday lunchtime and it was quiet), we sat upstairs this time and there were more experienced staff on shift. All 6 of us had a 3 course meal with 2 bottles of wine and it was well worth us trying again.
Having moved from London to Exmouth recently, we were really excited to see a chain restaurant investing in Exmouth and couldn't wait to try it. It looks good, in a great position but we were so disappointed. Firstly the waiter didn't hear us properly or understand us when ordering our glasses of wine, bringing the wrong size glass. We mentioned this and he brought us another - but we didn't want too much to drinkl. The portion sizes of the children's meals are odd - 5 tiny chicken wings or a huge pizza. It would be nice to see some garlic bread, pasta or vegetables with the chicken. We had to ask them to put the chicken on the fire again as they were served under cooked. The adult dishes were very average, although they are trying to introduce special menus by chefs displayed on the tables. It will be a long time before we try Prezzo again.
My abiding memory of Prezzo is the icy blast from the air conditioning, but (on a hot day, at least) the stylish decor makes it one of the better choices for a relaxing meal in the town centre. The menu's unremarkable, with the freshly-made pizzas the best bet - everything else is distinctly average. Lots of locals come here because of the special offers, which provide good value for money.

ReportI think the arrival of a well known 'chain' restaurant is good news for Exmouth. Prezzo is modern, smart and bright. Unlike a previous review we all four thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meal. The mushroom starters were a huge hit, and the butterfly chicken breast in sauce was scrummy. We will certainly be visiting Prezzo again and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Italian food. it is worth looking out for the 2 for 1 offers that they sometimes do.

I've been pleasantly surprised by this chain restaurant. I think the food is lovely and isn't expensive at all. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and made for a good meal. However it was quiet when I went and I can see how it would get noisy when full as the tables are pretty close together but it's like that in most restaurants. Lovely decoration, food and service and I would certainly recommend it.
This is the only Prezzo I've been to, and I've been about five times - with friends, familiy, husband. Disappointed on two of the visits - tables for two are far too close together, near the window in the lower section. No privacy. Pizza had a funny taste to the dough - almond taste. Topping was overdone. The rest of the times I've been, service has been really good and the pasta dishes have been excellent. I often go with a voucher and enjoy the starters as well. Nice atmosphere, but particularly if you can reserve a seat in the raised area/area to the right of the entrance.
