The Puffing Billy
Great service, less than great food
I'd had high expectations of the Puffing Billy built up over the years (my grandparents and parents used to go there) so I was delighted to be invited for a Valentine's meal there. Our table was in a new extension, which we found rather soulless, and the closeness of the tables meant there was a lot of squeezing in and out to do. The food, however, was rather uninspired – quite nice, but nothing special for the price. Service was faultless, though, and the red rose for Valentine's was a nice touch.
