This year's junior tournament of Exmouth Beach Volleyball takes place tomorrow, Sunday 12 July, with Boys U18 (2s), Girls U18 (2s), Girls U16 (2s), U14 (3s) and U12 (3s) age groups.

Last year's two events into one large South West Junior Beach Championships event. Over 50 junior teams took part in last year's events and so the whole beach volleyball area is booked this year.

This event will also form part of the SW Junior Beach Volleyball Grand Prix, as well as picking up grand prix points, the various winners will qualify for the Grand final to be held at Windfest in Poole.

Games start at 10am, at the 'no swimming' end of the beach.

According to the Exmouth Beach Volleyball website:

There were plenty of games for all teams in the junior event.

The day started off with a number of pool rounds (best of three sets matches), with the top two teams from each of the pool rounds qualifying for the event final.

A small crowd stayed on to watch the last match of the day and possibly the best match of the tournament, the U18 Boy's final. Ashley Yeo & Jack Walker took the first set 17-15 with a good display of team work but Daniel Hunter & Ryan Henry came back in the second 15-9, helped on their way with some power hitting to set up the third and deciding set. With everything to play for the match went on into the early evening. The stalwarts left in the crowd were rewarded with an excellent display of team work by Ashley Yeo & Jack Walker who took the set 15-7 and the SW U18 Junior Beach Championship 2008 title 2 sets to 1.
